romeo and juliet

hey ! last night i went over to mouse's after work- we initially were going to watch pulp fiction, because christina hasn't seen it and she's like the #1 bruce willis fan of all time, but christina had to work late. we ended up watching the rescue, a doctor who two parter that introduces the second companion, the hilariously named vicki.

koquillien

the basic story is that a human ship crashed onto the planet dido, and then a mysterious explosion killed all the native... didonians and humans, leaving only a teenage girl, vicki, and a jerk named barrett. barrett and vicki are being imprisoned by a weird space monster named koquillion, and barrett pressures vicki to be nice to koquillion so they can escape. because a rescue ship is coming to perform the titular rescue. the twist was pretty predictable, and sort of nonsensical, but the costume for koquillion was pretty awesome. the other great thing was that there was a scene where vicki is being descended upon by a sandbeast and barbara instinctively zaps him with a laser, and vicki bursts into tears and says, "you killed sandy !!!". cutest.

sandy
sandi jo mcsandmonster

mouse is cool. i'm glad i went to his house. he's been pretty accommodating since i've started being a weird hermit, about coming over to my house (i do have the superior movie watching tv, though !!!!) but i'm going to try to go over to his house more because i'm comfortable there and if i were him, i'd want to be able to hang out at home more too.

soooooo big plans for the weekend ! i'm going to like, hang hard and watch muppet things on my xbox ! christina and i set a brodown date for this evening, since she's been so busy with class and work lately and i've been like, hanging out in my room killing zombies. i assume we're going to eat dinner and get something stupid on payperview? and knit? i signed up for a craft swap on an online community i participate in, and of course i got this amazing woman who does amazing shit as my recipient. i have NO CLUE what to make her. i might try the pfeiffer falls hoooded scarf

pfeiffer falls

or this entrelac scarf i found on ravelry if i can find a way to do it without spending $50.

entrelac !

i don't really have plans on saturday. nick and sandi may come down from nyc and hang out with us??? i've already promised to let them watch me play video games and i think they're like, beside themselves with excitement. okay, i'm gonna go do some junk.

p.s. don't forget father's day if you have a cool dad ! since i had a deadbeat dad and he recently croaked, i got my mom some reusable grocery bags with philadelphia scenes on them- they had them at the grocery store and they have beautiful photographs of all of her favorite shit here on both sides, and she loves reusable grocery bags ! haha.
p.p.s. hi

electric avenue

hey !!!! i had a great birthday weekend. friday started out with christina and i ordering thai food for dinner (veg. pad thai and a goat cheese/macadamia nut salad from pattaya grill) and uh, buying valentine's day on payperview? we saw a preview for it and we were like, "HOLY SHIT THERE'S SO MANY ACTORS IN THIS !!!!!" and expected it to be like, entertaining and bad, but it was like 3 hours long and so wooden and boring and forced. like, there were 20349 characters and none of them really connected and no one did anything funny and you kept forgetting who was with who- also, i thought jennifer garner and ashton kutcher were siblings, so their romantic subplot surprised me. in short, i do NOT recommend buying valentine's day on payperview.

valentine's day
p.s. bradley cooper's character is gay, which is a plot twist, and his boyfriend is an NFL player, butttt of course they cut away before they can kiss in the movie

i also put kiehl's drawing paste on my birthday zit but um, i kept licking it off so i'm not sure if it worked. i think putting rubbing alcohol on it periodically did more to dry it out and shrink it. it didn't HURT on saturday but it's still kind of prominent today.

on saturday, i got up and got ready and packed my bags, and then nick and sandi got here !!! christina had a zipcar, so we went down to target to pick up snacks, contact solution (for christina), and a copy of red dead redemption for myself as a birthday gift. then we went to pat's so sandi could experience a philly cheesesteak.

pat's king of steaks
pat's is the non-racist one, unlike geno's, so i'll forgive them for the pepsi products thing

they don't have anything i want there, so i sulked at a picnic table, but i couldn't be toooooo mad because sandi said, "i love sandwiches... i mean, my name is SANDI" which was the cutest thing in the universe.

we went to the hotel after that and started setting stuff up and mostly like, sat around and enjoyed being inside a hotel. the windsor is my favorite property in philadelphia (and i've been to like all of them for stupid work shit !) and they were really accommodating and nice (they put that it was my birthday in the system so everyone told me happy birthday !). we also had the best view up the parkway:

parkway
like this, but um, lower

then jess and laszlo got there !!!!!!!!!!!! it was great to see jess and to finally meet laszlo, who is super funny and likes weird al as much as me. people started trickling in after that so i put on my itunes cool music playlist (which, it turns out, did not have enough songs for an 8 hour party) and ordered pizza from lazaros. people always recommend them to me but i found their sauce to be too sweet ! anyway, we had soda and pizza and hung out and had the best time.

oh, yeah- the party had an accidental bigfoot theme. first, jeanne made me this (amazing) cake:

cake
the teeth are white mystery airheads

and i also got several bigfoot presents, as evidenced below:

gifts
autographed picture of bigfoot from mouse, book about the night witches from jeanne !

gifts
dinosaur projector, franksteiny zombie finger puppets, and grow-in-the water dinosaur and alligator from jess, laszlo, and kati

gifts
madball (dust brain) from kati, poop-shaped soap and bathbomb with a capybara inside from mark, and vegan dracula gummis from nick

gifts
beautiful sasquatch watercolor from kati's bf alan

not pictured: gift card to spool sewing from christina so i can take sewing classes !!!, gift card to old navy from kati, gift card to trader joe's from mark, and like 400000lbs of twizzlers from nate and anna which are currently in my stomach.

it was really great to see everyone and i haven't laughed that hard in awhile (like, since last weekend) and this was the best birthday since last year !

the next morning, christina, jess, laszlo, nick, sandi, mouse, and i (phewwww) went to morning glory for brunch. the wait was pretty long for a party of 7 who wanted a table, but it was shady outside and kind of breezy so it wasn't terrible. the food, however, was kind of lackluster ! i think that every time i eat there so i'm not sure why i keep going back- i always forget they're bad and i always forget they have the grossest tofu scramble ever and subject my vegan friends to it.

challah french toast

i had a good time though and drank several sodas. i don't want to sound wimpy but being around those six people filled me with such happiness that i thought i was going to explode and die. after brunch we walked over to john's water ice so i could get a chocolate water ice

water ice

for those not from the area, water ice is just italian ice. not sure why it's called that, since the name definitely sounds like someone is just describing ice.

after our friends went back to new york (and mouse went to work out in the park), christina and i came home and napped hard (well, i did, and that was her intention, but i was like... dead to the world). christina did a very thorough allergy cleaning of the livingroom and i HELPED SLIGHTLY ! and tried to stay out of her way. then mouse came over and we caught up on doctor who a little. i LIKE the new season so far, but i don't LOVE it. like, i keep forgetting about it and now we're 2-3 episodes behind i think? the episode we watched was vampires in venice

vampires

it was okay ! the episode was very FUNNY, but i'm sort of tired of all of the mopey "OUR BLOOD IS ON UR HANDZ DOCTOR !!!!" shit? and doctor loving and protecting human beings so much. i also think that the dude playing rory is a terrible bland actor and they should've found someone better. also, they better not do a love story between the doctor and amy because I'M SO FUCKING TIRED OF THAT and also he knew her when she was a child.

so, today ! i'm going out to lunch with my team for my birthday, but we haven't picked a restaurant yet- i share my birthday with another teammate and she keeps dodging me when i try to get her to pick ! when i get home tonight i'm going to thoroughly clean and dust my room and try to find all my tv remotes and finally hook up my xbox. it's a shame that i'm even procrastinating about playing video games !

hey guys.

p.s. we saw a license plate that said ROCDWN2 and when we finally figured out it said "rock down to" we saw that the bumper sticker underneath it said, "...and then we'll take it higher". totally weird, because like... one of five things i remember about my dad was that he LOVED that song ! haha.

just me and my baby

what's up dudes ! i had my first iced coffee in weeks (after my early spring cornholioing) and am psyched now ! what's up ! hey !

i didn't update yesterday because i called out of work. reunion finally caught up to me. i called out at 7:30 and went back to sleep and slept until like 2:30, which is a feat for me. i'm not that much of a sleeper and i never sleep that late.

garshoo

on tuesday night, mouse came over so we could get caught up on doctor who. we watched the first episode of the weeping angel two parter. i was a little bummed because they brought back both the angels and the doctor's wife, which makes me think that this entire season will just be a rehashing of the previous seasons (and like, doctor who involves a certain amount of rehashing by nature, but do they really need to bring back cool original stuff and turn it into the next daleks or cyberman?). that said, the first part was pretty good. the part where amy was in the trailer with the angel video was genuinely scary, and there were some super funny moments.

weeping angels

i'm not really sold on matt smith yet but i'm learning to like him. i thought david tennant did a great job but i was never a HUGE fan or anything, so maybe i'm just overly critical of new doctors.

mouse also seems to be doing well. he apparently is not as bendy as the last time he went to yoga, so i'm not sure WHEN he'll achieve his ultimate yoga goal, which is sucking a gallon of water up his ass.

after that, christina caught up on gossip girl and i tormented her while she watched it, as usual. this time i made a gossip girl twitter for our apartment. it's been a little rough because i've only seen like 5 episodes and i'm usually talking while they're on. now that i've gotten the hang of it though i may have to add mouse into the mix or maybe mention myself because christina and pizza don't really do that much intriguing shit.

xoxo
the blonde gossip girl is the most beautiful gossip girl of them all

yesterday i slept all day and kind of did nothing all day. i watched some DVR'd futurama (kind of a bummer, i haven't mastered fast forwarding yet so i occasionally see commercials for comedy central stuff and my brain melts a little) and checked out my class schedule for summer online. i haven't been back to school in awhile, is it normal for them to change class times 29382039 times?

i initially signed up for two classes, and my schedule was like this:

MW 6:30pm-8:45pm Elementary German I
TR 6:00pm-7:00pm History of the United States to 1865

that's pretty good, right? four days a week, but only one class per night and only one late night ! but when i checked yesterday, the german class had been changed, so my schedule was:

MTWR 7:30-8:45 Elementary German I
TR 6:00pm-7:00pm History of the United States to 1865

sooooo now the german class is every day, so i have 2 classes per night 2 days a week (which makes those nights a total bust) and one class in the middle of the evening for no reason on the other 2 nights. don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining about a few hours of free school a week, but i was definitely trying to ease myself back in and picked a comfortable, easy schedule that wouldn't immediately ruin the social life i'm pretending i have as the premise of this complaint !

jeez.

before you feel too sorry for me, this is also a six week summer session. and they're online classes so i don't even have to wear pants.

i'm back at work now, finishing a few things up. today is my yearly review and i'm oddly nervous. i know that i've been um, crankier in the past few months, and i've also been uncooperative with my annoying coworker, but i don't think it should be a big deal. probably? since i have extreme anxiety i can only be sure that i am going to get the most fired and most criticized ever, even if i didn't do anything wrong, but it did take me awhile to come up with those two criticisms of my performance. i guess my biggest fear about a review is my boss bringing up a shortcoming i wasn't even aware of? but i can't imagine that if i was truly fucking up, she wouldn't have talked to me already.

anxiety !

that picture reminds me that i was talking to my aunt about my anxiety a couple of years ago, which i referred to as cyclical anxiety, and she said it sounded just like her. and also now refers to it as her sickle cell anxiety by accident.

p.s. will one of you tell me what happens on lost when it's over so i don't have to watch it?

nothing on you

dudessss. i had a really exciting weekend where i got to do almost nothing ! on friday, christina and i dressed up fancy (well, we both wore dresses due to dire laundry situations) and went to tampopo, which was filled with obnoxious penn kids. i had some steamed dumplings and bi bim bap with tofu and egg

bi bim bap

it was okay- i sort of hate sesame oil and they put it in every dish, which was kind of a bummer, but the sauce was pleasantly spicy and i did okay with eating with chopsticks even though i'm normally like... an embarrassing honkey with them. after that, we came home and watched, uh, it's complicated. it was okay ! slightly less boring than watching old rich people do shit IRL.

it's complicated

there were a few funny/weird moments (like alec baldwin grabbing meryl streep's vagina and saying "home sweet home"? and her saying, "i prefer a lot of semen") that we were really into, but like i hate rich people so i couldn't get personally invested. also meryl streep was totally fucking radiant ("she just looks like somebody's aunt to me") and christina and i kept marveling over it ! after that we got into a hysterical competition to freddy krueger each other where we tried desperately to make the other look at us and then did a freddy krueger hand motion

1 2 freddy's coming for christina

on saturday, i didn't really do anything. christina and i went grocery shopping, where i rekindled my love for hamburger helper with veggie crumbles (i've been having trouble with eating disorder stuff lately with no real end in site. most foods i like seem gross or unappetizing to me. this will do for now.). paul and i leveled our alts to around level 26 (from 14) i think? and i did some reading, and christina and i caught up on DVR'd king of queens. haha. i think we watched like 12 episodes over the weekend? mouse came over for awhile to hang out before he goes on tour (more about that later) and i lent him my ipod, which will be returned loaded up with jiu jitsu and vale tudo videos i'm sure.

on sunday, we leveled our alts to like.. 42 or 43? then mike and emily came down because emily's 16th birthday was saturday. i bought her dinner, which was an empty gesture because her dad usually pays for her. emily is like... the coolest kid ever? she's so much cooler than i was at her age, and has been for as long as i've known her. mike was a delight as usual- this time he has ringworm and is taking some kind of anti fungal medicine that he has to sweat out?

dreaded ringworm
we all decided ringworm would be grosser if it was an actual worm than a fungus, but i actually think a worm is less gross

that sounded like something mike would make up to gross me out, but apparently it's true?

The single-dose regimens, or pulse therapy regimes, can be made more effective by having the patient exercise 1–2 hours after the dose, to induce sweating. The sweat is allowed to evaporate, and showering is delayed for a day, leaving a film of the medication on the skin

ew ! after they left, i talked to mouse on the phone for awhile. he's going to be on tour (mostly the midwest and some of the south?) until sunday, and i'm super bummed. i know the timing is good because this is my busiest crappiest week all year, and i have to work this weekend, but i feel all weird and mopey ! this is like, the longest we've ever not been butt buddies. i hope he continues to send me a lot of weird texts and isn't too bored.

cybermouse
cybermouse and dalexy, circa 2004

oh, speaking of that, we didn't even watch the new episode of doctor who. after that bullshit winston churchill and the tired dalek plotline, i am not super eager to watch them possibly ruin the angels from blink by doing them to death.

weeping angels

i mean, i'll watch it (probably tonight !), but i don't feel any kind of urgency to watch it every week as it airs. i hope i don't have to give up on the revival, but between it's general undercurrent of suckiness and having to listen to newjack doctor who fans share their dumb opinions with me, i'm kind of grouchy about it.

hey ! otherwise i'm in a good mood. my event is this weekend and i'm super busy, but since i made all the changes to my work process in january (writing stuff down, buying a printer, etc) i definitely feel more organized and under control than i have in previous years.

p.s. speaking of crappy tv, i guess the pacific ended? i wonder if i'll ever watch it. i heard it was good from paul (my resident WOW and WWII friend), but he also liked white chicks.

sugartown

first of all, i want to say happy birthday to natalie. natalie and i have been friends since gifted in middle school, and spent countless hours sitting silently on the telephone while we each read a book. i read so many issues of highlights for children (wayyyyy past highlights age) in her bedroom at sleepovers, and remember staying up late and watching 120 minutes with her at her house. she is definitely one of the people who was most influential in my current coolness, because she is one of the most effortlessly cool and smart and funny and charming people i've ever met. plus, she always had good dogs:

noodles

last night mouse came over to watch the last episode of doctor who. i was pretty bummed to see that the daleks are back yet again because um, again, some of them lived, and again, they fell through a thing in time, and again, he thought he killed them all but just kidding !!!! like, there were a couple of good parts in the episode (i really liked that the dude was somehow built by the daleks to build the daleks even though i'm not sure i understand how it works) but i'm soooo motherfucking sick of daleks. and um, we already had an amazing story arc during the london blitz in series one. plus the new fat imac daleks were dumb looking.

imac

i guess it's kind of interesting that amy pond had never heard of them? i'm interested to see where that goes. oh, also, that winston churchill blew. how hard can it be to do a good churchill impression? i bet every fat actor in england has that in his repertoire.

after mouse went home, christina and i got some treats and hung out for a little bit before i had to raid. i tried to get out of it but they were short on people and some of the people i like asked me to come. the raid didn't end up being tooooooooo bad- we got putricide down pretty fast and made a ton of headway on sindragosa

sindragosa

the fight is pretty cool, but i was getting really tired toward the end and the third phase was confusing. i think i was the only person who died prematurely though. too bad no one will show up on sunday so we can kill her ! including me, probably, so i'm not complaining.

hopefully i won't have to do anything this weekend. i think mouse and i are seeing our friends' band saturday night, and i might go grocery shopping and stuff, but i have to work all next weekend so i want this one to be like... full of laziness and elastic waist pants and DVR.

p.s. crazy insanely busy at work but not too busy to update my blog so far !
p.p.s. i don't wannnnnnna work next weekend
p.p.p.s. ooooooops we didn't do knitting group yesterday ! but since it's just me and christina, i don't think it really matters. i haven't felt like knitting in a little while !

sugar bear

hey dudes ! i had a pretty good, busy weekend this weekend. on friday, i came home and did nothing as planned. like, put on comfy pants, took a nap, watched tv, ate dinner, hung out with christina, etc. since i had to get up super early on saturday.

on saturday, mouse and i left for nyc at 7:30 in the morning. it was stressful from the beginning because it seemed like we were going to be late for the bus, but luckily the bus was super late so we made it ! i was already kinda cranky at that point because rushing around and having a tight schedule puts me on edge. the ride to nyc went by super fast. when we went over a bridge, mouse made me put his headphones on and his mp3 player was playing the theme from 'taxi'.

taxi

we had some subway trouble when we got there- i figured out what we needed to do beforehand and one of the trains we needed wasn't running. i figured out a workaround, but not before taking us to harlem by accident ! oh, by the way, we were going up to go to moma. mouse had never been before ! i've been there approximately 400 times but i do like the museum and i like doing stuff with mouse ! all the same junk was there as always, though i did take a picture of this mondrian that is in roxy colors:

mondrian

we also saw the marina abramovic exhibition and it was the coolest thing ever. i obviously like, don't know shit about art, especially not performance art, so i wasn't impressed when we passed by her exhibit on a lower floor- basically, she sits at a table silently staring at the chair across from her and anyone can sit and stare at her for as long as they want.

marina abramovic

when we got to the actual exhibit upstairs, though, i was blown away. while i might not be educated about art i can always appreciate a total weirdo. part of the exhibit (which you may have heard of, for groping reasons) is two naked people standing inside a doorway and you're supposed to squeeze between them. i didn't do it, but lots of middle aged mom ladies with fanny packs did ! my favorite part was the room with parts of her installment balkan baroque (which included six thousand pounds of cow bones !)

balkan baroque

after the museum, we went to candle 79 for brunch.

candle 79

it was okay ! a lot of people recommended it to me really highly, but i thought it was kind of bland and overpriced. i got pancakes with strawberries and strawberry butter, a side of yukon gold skillet potatoes, and an iced coffee. the pancakes were kind of tough, the strawberry butter just tasted like salt, and i got like.. two strawberries cut up on it. the only saving grace was their ginger maple syrup, which was delicious. the iced coffee was okay, but they only had raw sugar, which does not dissolve in iced coffee, like, at all. haha. also the menu said it was $3 and they charged me $4.

the potatoes were actually the worst thing of all. doesn't "yukon gold skillet potatoes" evoke like, country potatoes with crispy edges or whatever? it was skinless boiled potatoes with some green onions and some spices, served by an icecream scoop ! i know that sounds terrible, but the ginger maple syrup was so good that they get an 'okay' rating. mouse had tofu scramble with seitan sausage (the sausage was in imperceptible teeny chunks in the scramble), potatoes, and toast. he finished it, but i'm not sure what he thought !

potatoes
this is what i expected !

anyway, we made our way to the bus after that. i kind of dislike new york. it's full of transplants and tourists who don't know how to walk on a sidewalk and i did not pass a restaurant without seeing at least 2 people taking iphone pictures of their food ! i had a good time though, despite being kind of cranky, cause i like hanging out with mouse. he also tickled me a lot on the bus ride home cause he was bored and i enjoyed that, because i'm basically a toddler.

on the bus ride home, i finally read the hunger games and totally loved it.

hunger games

if you haven't read it, the basic premise is that teenagers in a bleak future are forced to compete in a "battle royale" type scenario, but like... more interesting ! it's been awhile since i've been so into a book i read- even though it's pretty clear from the beginning that the protagonist will prevail in some way (this is not a spoiler- there is no way there would even be a book if this wasn't the case), how she does it and the actual outcome were both super interesting to read. there were a few times that i felt frustrated by her waffling over her feelings and thoughts, but it was actually a pretty realistic interpretation of what would go through a teenager's head in that situation. all in all, the only thing i didn't like was the wolves. i'm not doing a good job of hyping up the book because i don't want to give any actual spoilers ! ahhhh.

after i got home, i took a very brief nap and regrouped with mouse and christina to watch the first episode of the new season of doctor who.

doctor who

1) i love amy pond. i love how they introduced her and i loved her as an adult, and i'm so excited to see what happens with her
2) matt smith is okay so far ! kinda funny but kind of seems like he's aping david tennant. maybe that was the point, since he was just getting used to his regeneration? but i truly don't think i can take another like, "theater" doctor.
3) the story was pretty good, though i guess they're saving their special effects money for later stories. it wasn't quite as goofy and over the top as i expected
4) HATE the new theme and rebranding !

overall i'm pretty excited to see what happens ! i haven't been able to watch the show almost as it airs since the revival started- i've mostly had to download episodes or wait til the seasons were over.

my big plans for sunday were to wear comfy pants all day. they were somewhat foiled when christina and i decided to go to the green line and have iced coffee and knit, and then do some grocery shopping. i decided to buy the exact food i ate every day when my eating disorder was in check, so i'll be having gross black bean burgers for lunch every day and maybe that will magically cure me until i can get a new e.d. therapist. magic is real right?

magic

after that, we cleaned up the kitchen and made pierogies and watched tv and knitted together. super super super relaxing day ! i started on my sweet socks, and switching colors is surprisingly easy. i watched like 30 seconds of a youtube and just decided to keep both colors of yarn over my left index finger (i knit continental) and just grab whichever color i needed with the needle.

sweet sock

sweet sock back

unfortunately, though, i've been knitting super tightly, as i'm wont to do when i learn a new technique, so the socks are like... baby sized. i'm obviously going to have to start them over with better tension, but i'm totally dreading it. oh well- my hands and wrists are killing me from knitting so tightly, and i have blisters on my thumbs from sliding the stitches off my super pointy needles. haha. ohhhhh welllllll.

oh yeah. i wanted to mention that i've kind of given up on the pacific. i'm 1.5 episodes behind- i tried to catch up yesterday and i had to turn it off halfway through because it's so motherfucking boring.

the pacific

my problems so far
- they are trying to create a 'band of brothers' feel to it by obscuring the fact that leckie, sledge, and basilone don't know each other and aren't in the same unit.
- the pacing of each episode is so terrible; it's impossible to tell if one day or one year has passed at any given point.
- they are doing a horrible job of telling the story of the war. very little talk about strategy or battles or japan or like.. anything, besides the tom hanks narration at the beginning. if i didn't already know what was going on i'd think that the soldiers spent like, one night in the pacific and either one long weekend or one year fucking australian girls so far?
- the episodes are like 30 minutes long with a bunch of padding
- they've wasted so much time trying to work on character development, yet i cannot name a single person besides the three main characters and don't know who is in what unit and don't care about any of them
- everything seems way too modern. nothing really looks old and no one acts like people did in the 40s.
- it blows

okay, time to go do some actual work. this entry has taken me forever and ever to write because my super annoying coworker has been annoying the fuck out of me all morning !!!!

p.s. i forgot to mention that i tried that thing where you wash your hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar (i refuse to say 'no-poo') and my hair looked okay but felt disgusting and greasy and my whole face felt greasy all day ! and despite rinsing my hair for like 239283 minutes under warm water, 3092830293 under cold water, waiting a day, washing it with HEAD AND SHOULDERS and conditioning with pantene, my head smelled like apple cider vinegar today when i blowdried. and the mix was definitely not too vinegar-y- if anything it was not vinegar-y enough because i filled the shampoo bottle without a funnel.

i don't do too much talking these days

hayyyyy guys. last night, christina and i went to the west philly knitter and crocheter meet-up at the other green line. the group is a ravelry group- i didn't know ravelry had groups because i'm not an overly attentive internet patron but christina found it !

we got there a little bit late, which was fine because there was only one other person there. her name is min and she... well, lives in west philly, and she was making a baby cardigan and is originally from minnesota. she was really funny and immediately riffed with christina and i and we spent a lot of time talking about how the recession is negatively impacting the clowning industry

fears of a clown

and nurse strikes and stuff. after awhile, a second girl named elizabeth showed up. she... also lives in west philly, and works with kids and was making an adult sweater. both ladies were really nice, and they said attendance is usually higher (and one of the women who goes is the girlfriend of a guy i used to be friends with [not that we're NOT friends now, i just haven't seen him in awhile] and i always thought she looked neat and wanted to get to know her). we'll probably go next week too and i'll have another iced mocha and stay up all night !

please note that i barely did any knitting at this thing. i had mouse's sock with me and the teeny stitches + black yarn + lack of christina's ottlight = me not really being able to see what i was doing. plus i was excited and wanted to bug everyone !!!

ottlight

i didn't make it to mouse's show afterward because it was in an awkward location. not like, the worst neighborhood ever, but it would've required me to walk alone at night through some rough spots. i don't think he minded though because his m.o. for shows on weeknights is like, play and then go home and go to bed as soon as possible.

when i got home, there weren't enough people for a raid, so we did a ten man. it was like, the dullest ten man of my life? paul and jay were in my group and they're great, but there were lots of boring duds and no one talked on vent (the program we use to talk to each other during raids). we ended up wiping on blood princes because we didn't really have an optimal way to tank the orbs.

blood princes

tonight, i really truly hope to do nothing. my ideal night would be:

- taking a nap
- eating a hoagie
- messing around in wow a little bit
- starting my sweet socks over on metal needles
- hanging out with christina.

saturday, mouse and i are going to new york to go to look at some art. it's kind of a bummer because it's just a quick day trip and there's so many people i want to hang out with, plus everyone in the world will oddly be in nyc this weekend. oh wellllllllllll. saturday night, i hope to watch the new series of doctor who.

i know bbc america is three or four episodes behind but i'd rather not download them, soooo don't try to talk to me about them OR tell me to download them ! haha. i'm skeptical about this new doctor because he's half my age and looks like frankenberry but i'm willing to give him a chance.

i'm like 99% sure i promised someone i'd hang out with them on sunday but i truly cannot recall who or what i said i'd do. hopefully i'm mistaken and can have a repeat of my ideal friday. hey dudes ! let's have a good weekend.

p.s. i started uploading all of my blog images to an alternate flickr account yesterday and it was so so so so so so so so tedious. my calendar is pretty clear for the day today so i will try to finish it, but i'm buying myself a v8 as a bribe.
